Qian Xun Kabab Bar
About This Spot
Qian Xun Kabab Bar feels like stepping into an unhurried corner of El Monte where the bustling pulse of Northeastern Chinese street food culture mingles effortlessly with the warmth of familiar company. As you approach, the inviting aroma of charcoal grilling draws you in — a subtle promise that here, flavors come alive slowly, patiently, and with care.
The space itself carries a raw, no-frills charm, where the focus is quietly and unquestionably on the food and the conversations it inspires. It’s the kind of place where time seems to stand still just enough for you to savor the gentle crackle of skewers over glowing coals and the lively hum of friends catching up over plates that feel personal rather than curated.
At Qian Xun Kabab Bar, each bite tells a story — from the savory, carefully seasoned satays and fresh, springy noodles to the unexpected delights of street-style seafood and rustic soups. The flavors are bold but not overpowering, thoughtful in their seasoning and true to traditional roots, making every dish feel like a small journey. This is a spot where shared plates and the clink of cold drinks create a quiet camaraderie, inviting guests to slow down and enjoy the moment as much as the meal.
The pace here is unhurried, a welcome contrast to the rush of everyday life. It's easy to find yourself lingering, drawn by the rich textures and smoky notes that hang just a little longer on the palate, alongside the genuine warmth of the staff and the subtle buzz of loyal locals who’ve made this their go-to gathering spot. Reservations are a smart move — the popularity is quiet but steady, a sign that this tucked-away gem resonates deeply with those who appreciate authentic flavors and atmospheres that feel lived-in and comfortably imperfect.
Whether you’re nestled here with friends for an evening of relaxed conversation or dropping by to enjoy a few skewers and a cold drink, Qian Xun Kabab Bar offers a space that gently balances authenticity with an easygoing vibe — a reminder that good food and good company don’t need to shout to be remembered.

Best Northeastern style BBQ place (possible in the whole North American) for me. Food was very authentic, even the whole in a wall questionable environment is authentic lol. Unless quite some bbq place we have been to, all the bbq items were perfectly charcoal grill instead of fried. And the flavoring is tailored to each ingredient. Will definitely come back next time we are in LA area.

Best place in town for Northeastern Chinese bbq. The raw beef kebab is the bomb! I love everything we ordered.

Wow....I haven't seen my sister for a month, and I made an appointment the first day. I ate a round of delicious food. My good friend came to change tables and ate another round. The business of this business is really booming. Make an appointment in advance to reserve a seat, there is no seat for Walking in. Good non-greasy dry mouth.

The beef and lamb skewers were bomb. We also order chicken skin, chicken bone, oyster, fried rice, bean curd, mantou, veggies, they were ok. If you are looking a place to drink and chat with friends, great place to be. However, if you are looking a place to a have a full meal as dinner, it is pretty pricey.

Pretty yummy skewers. Love the sauce they use. Price is pretty good too. Agree the food takes a while to come out, but worth the wait.

Beef and lamb skewers. Various Northeastern Chinese BBQ dishes. Various snacks. Various specialty foods. Specialty drinks. Beer. Tastes like childhood. Very authentic. Reasonable and affordable prices. Generous portions. Occasionally requires advance reservation and there might be a short wait. I come here often. If you don't like this, then you shouldn't eat barbecue anymore. If you say this authentic Northeastern Chinese barbecue isn't delicious, then you're just not suited to eating barbecue. Try something else.
